About Master Artisan

The end of craftsmanship?

Violin Maker

Since time immemorial, Artisans have been the keepers and practitioners of ancient traditions. These traditions and their spirit are suffering now. Modern consumerism has sacrificed quality craftsmanship in the name of production efficiency.

Machines cannot create though. Nor can they innovate or inspire emotion. Where would we be without the warmth, the passion and the uniqueness that only the Artisan's work can bring?

We don't want to know. That's why we've created Master Artisan.

Responding to the challenge is the world's NEW online directory for the world of craftsmanship and fine design.

However, this is a directory with a difference. It's a directory that showcases the beauty and integrity of objects made with passion and dedication by hand. It is also a directory that inspires visitors to seek out and contact the designers, craftsman and artisans creating beautiful objects in large and small, well-known and obscure workshops all around us.
Master Artisan will be the single premium entry point into the worldwide marketplace of artisans, designers, suppliers, restorers, antique dealers, craft schools and guilds and associations.

But Master Artisan is more than a portal. It will be the most comprehensive way to interact with the customers, suppliers and lovers of crafts from all over the world - The complete solution we, as artisans, designers and members of the community of craftsmanship, have always needed.

Preserving the Spirit

Carving Drawing

Master Artisan has been designed by artisans to help restore the Spirit of Craftsmanship around the world.

Using the modern tools offered by the online environment, Master Artisan aims to serve as a platform through which artisans, craftsmen and designers can fight back and re-establish the social, micro-economic and cultural traditions that humanize the consumer experience and bring deep joy to our lives.

What do we want to achieve?

At Master Artisan we want everyone to know about their local craftsman, and also about the great master artisans throughout the world.

We want people to appreciate the century old techniques of artisans, their tools and their history.
We also want the world to see the innovative work being created by the young designer makers and discover the way in which they are reinventing the age-old crafts.

We want to be able to provide a place where lovers of craftsmanship can access a rich library of information and photographs about artisans, styles, and masterpieces. It is our hope that Master Artisan will help preserve the techniques, crafts and personal histories of artisans from around the world online, making them accessible for all to research and enjoy.
We want to make connections between members of the community of craftsmanship - connections that improve business, open up new opportunities, lead to an exchange of ideas, generate inspiration and build support.

Most of all, we want members of the community of craftsmanship to be able to make a living out of what they love doing - not to have to put their tools in a box and find work they don't really want to do.

How can you contribute?

We are recruiting ambassadors - people who believe that a world without craftsmanship is a world we don't want to live in. People around the world have been inspired by what we are trying to achieve. If you too are inspired, or know someone who might be, we invite you to be a part of this exciting project.
